Onno van den Heuvel

Onno leads the Nature Finance Portfolio at UNDP. He oversees the Biodiversity Finance Initiative – BIOFIN, operating in 130 countries to design and implement national biodiversity finance plans. BIOFIN has over 200 finance solutions under implementation. He is responsible for UNDP’s work on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the Nature Investment Facility, the Biodiversity Credit Alliance and the Tiger Landscapes Investment Facility. He co-authored numerous publications in the area of nature finance, including the BIOFIN Workbook and a global estimate on the world’s biodiversity expenditures. He previously managed BIOFIN for 10 years and was an advisor in Mongolia for the design of a clean air fund and the analysis of cleaner fuel subsidy options. Onno is based in Brussels.
