José Gamito Pires

José supports ORRAA’s Blue Finance and Scaling team with his deep expertise in sustainable and blue finance, including through his ongoing work with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). At IFC he co-authored the “IFC Guidelines for Blue Finance 2.0” and supported the development of the practitioner’s guide Bonds to Finance the Sustainable Blue Economy. His experience spans impact reporting, asset eligibility assessments, and thought leadership across global markets.

Prior to IFC, José worked with BNP Paribas, where he managed the Bank’s Green Bond Program, structured sustainability-linked transactions, and acted as a Blue Economy Expert.

José holds a Master’s in International Business from Maastricht University, and completed postgraduate studies in Sea Science and Business Administration at Católica and the University of Lisbon.
